In Tameside and Glossop we focused on life long learning, and career progression. Our Primary Care actively trains doctors at all levels. Half of our General practices are accredited training environments for the University of Manchester and the NW Deanery, and mentor medical students, Trainee GPs, overseas doctors, GPs on the Retainer Scheme and encourage established GPs to take up higher professional roles. We are keen that doctors have multiple jobs, making careers varied and interesting. There are opportunities for GPwSI, Diplomas, Fellowship and University roles. GPs have a well established support group, where we meet for higher professional training every month at TARGET Training events.
