Practice Manager, Mandalay Medical Centre, Bolton

There is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated Practice Manager to lead and motivate our team at the Mandalay Medical Centre in Bolton.

Practice management is a demanding and challenging role but an excellent opportunity for a motivated experienced candidate. Candidates must have leadership and management experience as well as knowledge of HR, Health & Safety, CQC compliance and an understanding of the changing healthcare environment.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice and act as a role model to all staff.
  • Direct management of the Deputy Practice Managers, Administration Staff, Receptionists and the Practice Clinical team.
  • Work with the partners and maintain the practice development plan
  • Develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies
  • Lead the practice to ensure efficiencies are maximised across the business
  • Liaise with the practice business manager
  • Lead in the development of clinical and non-clinical meetings
  • Develop practice protocols and procedures, review and update as required and ensure the practice complies with CQC regulations.
  • Ensure that Practice premises are properly insured and maintained, and that adequate fire prevention and security systems are in place
  • Manage the procurement of practice equipment, supplies and services within target budgets
  • Develop and review Health & Safety policies and procedures and keep abreast of current legislation
  • Ensure that the practice has adequate disaster recovery procedures in place
  • Undertake risk assessments and undertake activities in a way that manages those risks.
  • Adopt a strategic approach to the development and management of patient services
  • Ensure that the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care
  • Maintain registration policies and monitor patient turnover and capitation
  • Management of all complaints
  • Management of the Patient Participation Group
  • Deputise for partners at internal and external meetings

Human resources responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment and retention of staff
  • Monitor skill-mix and manage staffing levels within target budgets
  • Oversee staff induction and training, and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role
  • Develop and implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems
  • Support and mentor staff, both as individuals and as team members
  • Implement effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances
  • Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation

Information management and technology responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IT data security & IG policies and completion of the annual DSP toolkit
  • Oversee the maintenance of the practice’s website
