We’re a large friendly training GP practice in the leafy suburb of Didsbury, Manchester looking for a permanent experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team, hours negotiable.
Main duties of the job:
To provide safe, efficient healthcare to patients by providing services alongside the Medical, Nursing and Administrative teams.
To provide these services the HCA will be required to participate in all necessary training and updates with assessments of competency as required and follow Barlow Medical Centre’s policies and directives.
The HCA will only undertake services that are covered by the relevant insurances.
The HCA will deliver these services in clinics with timely appointments made as required.
All procedures and actions will be documented as required and any concerns will be escalated to appropriate management.

To undertake phlebotomy for adults and some children as appropriate to training, experience and competency and send to the laboratory
To accurately measure Blood pressure with manual or automatic machines.
To measure temperature, pulse, peripheral oxygen levels, height, weight and BMI.
To check and send urine sample to the laboratory as needed and report to GP if abnormality found on a dip test.
To perform electrocardiography and ensure results are available for GP to review as needed
To actively ask and record patients smoking, alcohol and activity levels if required
To chaperone as requested.
Secondary / Administrative Responsibilities
To ensure the ordering of equipment when requested and the management of all clinical stock levels, rotation and ordering.
To collect specimen ready for collection by hospital courier.
To clean room/equipment used, according to cleaning schedule and record.
To participate in checking toilets for cleanliness and stock.
To ensure that the management of clinical waste and sharps bins is done safely and correctly.
To participate in checking emergency equipment daily, and resuscitation bag weekly.
To participate in checking fridge temperatures daily and weekly USB checks to ensure the cold chain is maintained. To report any cold chain breach immediately.
To attend and participate in nurse and practice meetings
To ensure that all mandatory training is up to date.
To escalate any significant events to a manager (good or bad) and complete a significant event form.
Other Duties – With Completion of Adequate Training:
Manage long-term condition annual reviews with appropriate training.
Injections – Influenza, Pneumonia and Vitamin B12 injection – HCA to attend external injection course and complete WMG competencies

Part time and Full time available

Part-time hours: 16-20 hours per week
Full-time 37.50 hours per week
