Undergraduate placements

Practice based learning via undergraduate placements is central to undergraduate paramedic science programmes. Paramedic students can spend a significant number of hours in supervised clinical practice during the lifetime of their programme of study.

Incorporating a placement in general practice as part of a paramedic degree can significantly help paramedic students in their learning and development as autonomous paramedics. It can help paramedic students to understand the role of the GP and what the GP expects of them and can provide an insight into the role of the paramedic in general practice as a future career opportunity.
